Gould Academy

About:
Gould Academy guides students to be creative, courageous and resilient and to lead lives of fulfillment and purpose. Core Values Curiosity We celebrate and encourage curiosity as the inspiration for learning, the source of great questions and ideas, and a driver of a vibrant and engaged community. Creativity We stimulate and support creativity and innovative thinking to solve novel challenges, foster joy, and fulfill the spirit. Courage We nurture courage, building the confidence to take risks, to persevere, to live authentically, and to act with purpose, honor, and integrity. Kindness We practice caring for each other, acting with empathy in pursuit of a respectful and inclusive community where we can thrive as individuals and grow to our greatest collective potential. Surrounded by the Natural World Our surrounding environment and our philosophy on the importance of experiences in the natural world go hand in hand. Located in Bethel, Maine, Gould sits at the edge of the White Mountains in the Androscoggin River Valley. The backside of Sunday River Ski Resort is the backdrop to our campus. Students have access to over 40km of mountain biking and Nordic trails outside their front door. Up the road, the impressive Grafton Notch State Park provides exceptional hiking and awe-inspiring natural formations. Bethel is a small but vibrant New England village, which plays host to a number of cafes, restaurants, charming boutique shops, a world class gem museum, and an independent movie theater.

Specialty Program(s):
A signature program at Gould, Four Point is an integral part of the curriculum that starts in 9th grade and ends upon graduation. Every year, just before spring break, students in each class embark on a journey of self-discovery. Gould students are proud of completing the four points, the full arc of a Gould story.
It's a Gould tradition: The first winter camping trip was hosted in the winter of 1983-84 and has been part of every graduate's journey since then.
